US to pay $1.95 bn to Pfizer, BioNTech for 100 mn COVID-19 vaccine doses


The US government will be paying $1.95 billion to American drugmaker Pfizer and German company BioNTech for 100 million doses of their coronavirus vaccine candidate, that will be provided to Americans for free. Coronavirus vaccine candidate BNT162 is being jointly developed by the two companies. Under the agreement, the government can acquire up to an additional 500 million doses.
